The first time you hear the name of this game, you can give a close guess on what this is all about. Basically, the game is like riding on a horse, but instead, a bamboo stick is used as a substitute horse.
Kabayo-kabayuhan is a group game (at least 2 groups) and no specific number of players is required, so long as all the groups have equal number of players.
MECHANICS
- Form a group of equal number of players each.
- Each group is given a bamboo stick with equal length (approximately 3 meters).
- There will be a starting line and a mark point on the other side (opposite the starting line) where the groups will swerve to the direction of the starting line (which also serves as the finish line).
- Two persons at a time will ride on the bamboo stick and run till they reach the finish line.
- After the first two member, then another pair, and so on, until all the members have ridden on the stick.
- The group who's pair of members who last ride on the bamboo, reaches the finish line first, wins.
- There are at least three rounds.
ABILITY (scale out of 5)
- Running (6/5) - of course, what's the use if you just walk, right?
- Holding (3/5) - to be able to grasp and hold the bamboo long enough
- Swerving (5/5) - yes this is the most difficult part
- Fast and strong legs (5/5) - connected to running ability
EXPERIENCE
Actually, one reason why I enjoyed this game is because I was a winning member in the winning group
After my every turn, I found myself catching my breath. The game is really fun and exhausting at the same time. The laugh trip, however, is less compared to the sis-sis-ki.
But definitely, it's worthwhile to play this game. After a long and tiring acad day, this is a good way to release your stress, all the games in PE in general.
RECOMMENDATION
- Use two bamboos at a time. Wohoo!
- Instead of running while riding the bamboo, hopping can be a more challenging move.
LESSON OF THE GAME
Go after the goal with all your best. Do not make time to compare with others.
